A recent project - helping with the Palestinian Community Mural

One of the highlights of being a part of the Cesar Chavez Student Center is seeing the amazing murals on the building.

The most recent was unveiled on November 2, 2007, in honor of Edward Said. ROMC's Program Development Officer, Aimee Barnes, was lucky enough to sit on the Student Center's Art Committee and be involved in the project.

Here's a great multimedia piece about the mural put together by the SF State student newspaper.

The timeline to the right shares some of the - lengthy - process involved in creating the mural. These histories are important as they are the reality of working on a multicultural campus and in a building that seeks to recognize the multiple heritages of the communities around us.

The lead artist himself discusses each element in the mural if you roll the mouse over the picture.

The 'learn about the mural' link on the bottom left has slides of the mural being painted and you can listen to students explaining the significance of the mural.

Enjoy!
